Where are we NOW? +Rig update!

Welcome to DirtRoad Magazine! If you're reading this article, there's a good chance you're already familiar with our site and what we're all about, but just in case, here's a recap: We here at DirtRoad are dedicated to providing reliable information, expert reviews, and help to everyone.

Those of you who have been with us since before the website went down may remember that we were based out of Texas for a few years. Soon after the site crashed we moved, and are now based out of western Washington, near Tacoma and Olympia! This move opened up new trails and new oportunities to us, so if you're near these areas keep an eye out for us!

Our Jeeps!

We wouldn't be much of a Jeep site without Jeeps to go out with! Right now, we have three Jeeps: Stubby, a '97 TJ; a '00 TJ; and PJ, a '99 WJ Laredo. All of them have at least couple of upgrades, and Stubby has the most, this update probablly won't address all of them, but we'll cover some of their basic features!

Stubby

The most upgraded and longest surviving DRM project, Stubby is a 1997 Wrangler SE. Equiped with an inline 4 cylinder engine with 2.5 liters diplacement, Stubby has been on trails across the country and keeps on crawlin'.

Stubby at MOAB!

Stubby has upgrades in every area of the Jeep, with 3.5" of lift between suspension and body lift. A Rancho brand suspension lift gives Stubby room to fit 33" Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials on the stock axles, both fitted with Detroit Lockers. Bulletproof MFG bumpers front and rear protect the jeep and hold the winch, offroad lights, and spare tire. Electrical upgrades under the hood from JET Performance and Jacobs' Electronics help squeeze all the power we can get out of the stock 2.5l. From top to bottom this Jeep was built bulletproof and hasn't turned away from a challenge yet.

PJ

PJ is a 1999 Grand Cherokee WJ Laredo, our second longest project. Equiped with a Powertech V8 engine with 4.7 liters of displacement, and sitting on 31" Tires with a 2.5" suspension lift, this Jeep is tough as nails with power to boot and capable of running some very difficult trails.

This Jeep has been on trails throughout Moab, New Mexico, and Texas; it is truly Trail Tested.

Our 2000 TJ

Our newest project is a 2000 Jeep Wrangler SE. Equiped with an inline 4 cylinder engine with 2.5 liters diplacement, this rig has been on several Washington trails, including those at Elbe Hills ORV Park.

TJ!

Despite not having many upgrades yet, a Rancho 3.5" suspension lift, 31" tires, and a brand new Warn VR EVO 10-S winch make this TJ very capable, and get it into some tight spots!

We have big plans for this little TJ! We hope you'll follow along with us as we continue to upgrade it in the future!

The Rigs now

Unfortunately, time haven't been too kind to Stubby and PJ, and pending some minor fixes, the 2000 TJ is the only one that is driven with any regularity. Stubby has a minor electrical issue preventing the windshield wipers from functioning keeping it from driving legally, and PJ needs new rear control arms to stop a bad wobble it has. After we get those fixed, we plan to get all three of our rigs out on the trails for some fun and pictures to post here! Keep an eye out for a new article, or an update to this one detailing our trip!

Despite sticker fade and needing minor repairs, both Stubby and PJ look and run about the same as they did when this website went down eight years ago. Here's a picture of PJ we took earlier today:
