Project '97 XJ

Sometimes you find a Jeep and you just have to have it, and that's exactly what happened here. We had been playing with the idea of getting another XJ for a few years and stumbled upon this one online, the beautiful blue paint, 4WD, and the legendary AMC 4.0 inline 6 engine, we knew we wanted it. We've taken this out on some milder trails, and our love of it just continues to grow, except:

Well, we knew it was high mileage, but we took the risk and here we are. At a minimum it has a bad head gasket, which probably means other engine issues hiding away. It's not a huge deal, but it certainly isn't going far before we get this fixed. On the plus side, maybe we'll post about the engine maintenance, and you'll definitely hear about any large changes we make if any. After the engine problems this Jeep will be good to go again, add some frame-stiffeners and we'll be ready to hit some trails truly fitting to it.

As a Jeep bought more on a whim than for a specific build we wanted to do, there's not a solid plan for this Jeep other than to make it keep up with our other Jeeps on trips. At a minimum I'd like to see it with a front locker and 33" tires, but beyond that only time will tell for now. We're very excited for it though.
