How do Budget Boost work? Budget Boost kits add "lift" to your Jeep at the suspension system, by putting thick spacers between the springs and the frame, effectively lengthening the springs, and behaving similarly to the longer springs found in Suspension Lifts.
How are they different from other lifts? Despite being similar to suspension lifts, Budget Boosts usually come with limited components, and rarely address the issues associated with lifts such as driveline angles or steering geometry. Budget boosts are very cheap, often about the same price as a quality Body Lift, but can offer over double the lift, usually up to about 2.5".
What does it actually get me? What issues? Because budget boosts come with very little in order to keep costs low, they also offer the fewest benefits, and can require the most extra "stuff" to fight issues. Budget boosts usually only offer you height and tire space, without the potential for articulation, protection, and traction gains offered by full suspension lifts, but come with all the issues, altered steering geometries, driveline angles, and center of gravity. Some of the same fixes can be applied though, such as SYE Kits and CV Driveshafts for driveline angles.
So why would I choose this? Budget Boosts are very enticing to newcomers because they offer a good amount of lift, often at a great price, and while many people run them with no issues, it's important to recognize and research their potential shortcomings.
